Camping and Food

There is camping available at the OCRA Pavilion for the Friday and Saturday nights of the race weekend, specified when you book your race entry.  This is all on site in Okehampton College grounds, at the race HQ - the Okehampton Community Recreation Association (OCRA) Pavilion in the Park.  To find out more about OCRA please go to the Charity page.

Parking and Camping

The Venue is open from 5pm on Friday 31st August.  Please do not arrive before this time.

Please vacate site no later than midday on Sunday 2nd September.

Camping is on the grass playing fields of the college adjacent to the Pavilion/ race HQ, these are their Cricket and Rugby pitches - so are nice and level!  It is a very short walk from the car parking to the camping area.

Please dispose of your rubbish in the bins provided at Race HQ and do not leave any litter.

Facilities

The Pavilion has male and female changing rooms, these have a good number of showers and toilets.  These will be open all weekend.  There is also a licensed bar and wifi in the Pavilion.

Food and Drink

The Café and bar in the Pavilion will be open throughout the weekend offering meals and snacks from 9am.  OCRA is a great charity that works to encourage activity for all in the local area, providing activity days for kids, clubs and sporting events.  Please support them over the weekend by purchasing food and drink!

You are of course welcome to bring any food you wish to prepare yourself and consume at your tent over the weekend.  There is a supermarket in Okehampton and lots of very good local produce available in town.

Barbecues are not allowed anywhere on the college grounds.

Bar

The bar will be open until 10/11 pm on the Friday evening and until midnight on race day.  This is the cut off for the 50 race and should allow people to be supported by others as they finish!

Noise

There will be children and tired people trying to sleep before and after the race day, so please be considerate when you are outside the Pavilion and in the camping area; this applies to Saturday morning especially - the 50 starts at 6am when the Marathon runners will still be asleep!

Campervans

If you are using your campervan instead of a tent you will be directed to a specific all weather area to park up. This is a tarmac playground/tennis court near the HQ, without electric hook up etc.  The HQ has changing rooms which are open all weekend for the use of the event.

Registration

This is at the race HQ.  Registration will be open from 7pm - 10pm Friday 1st Sept, then 5am - 5.30am on raceday for the Dartmoor 50, 9 - 10 am for the Dartmoor Marathon and 10 - 11.15 am for the Yes Tor Hill Race.

PRESENTATION

Trophies, prizes and medals are generally awarded at the finish line of the longer races, allowing people to leave if they are not staying overnight.

Stuff to do!

Okehampton Leisure centre is located to the side of the camping area within the college grounds, and will be open over the weekend for those wishing to swim etc after the race until 4pm on Saturday and opening at 10am on Sunday.  Here is a link to their WEBSITE

There is food and drinks available all day in the Pavilion.  Not to mention all the good walks on Dartmoor and exploring to do!
