Plastic Cups at the Dartmoor Highground
Many disposable cups are used at Checkpoints in running events and races and we very much want to try and minimise the impact our events have where possible.
It is increasingly common in Ultra distance races, where the participants may stop for longer periods of time in aid stations to re-fuel, that participants carry their own re-usable cup with them. This can considerably cut down on the number of disposable plastic cups used and thrown away in events.
From 2018 the 50 and Marathon race participants will NOT have plastic cups available to them in the checkpoints. Obtain a re-usable cup OR use the water bottles you are carrying for your general hydration needs (as per the kit list) will be needed for drinks at the checkpoints.
We strongly recommend carrying something like this with you to use in checkpoints;
There are 5 well stocked checkpoints that will have a range of food and water, squash and coke. These are spaced out an average of 9 miles apart, with the longest leg between Cp 1 and 2 being 15 miles (early in the race, between miles 8 and 23). The checkpoints will have shelter and some seats.
The Checkpoints are at;
1 & 2. Harter Tor (near East Okement Farm) - 8.25 / 23.25 miles (DROP BAG CP)
3. Nodden Gate - 32.5 miles
4. Meldon Quarry - 42.25 miles
5. West Mill Tor - 45.75 miles
